Woodland Park Left-Wingers Call in Support from the CEA and NBC
A small, dedicated group of fringe radicals continues to attack this board despite them following through on a number of campaign issues that got them elected by a clear majority of voters. Here’s the reality: this group doesn’t have the support among the majority of conservative Teller County. This group lost the initial election in 2021. They failed to recall this board in 2022. Their lawsuits have failed. Their online posts, when they are brave enough to venture outside of the carefully censored and controlled Concerned Parents of Teller County Page, get ratioed by local folks, who disdain their left coast ideology. After failing at every turn locally, they have resorted to turning to outside forces to try and influence our local control.
Back in January our local WPEA teachers’ union held a meeting, where the president told members that he had filed for emergency support from the Colorado Education Association. Just last week, the same Colorado Education Association passed a resolution condemning capitalism for a host of societal problems. The original resolution states: “CEA believes that capitalism requires exploitation of children, public schools, land, labor and/or resources and, therefor, the only way to fully address systemic racism (the school to prison pipeline), climate change, patriarchy (gender and LGBTQ disparities), education inequality, and income inequality is to dismantle capitalism and replace it with a new, equitable economic system”. The final resolution is rumored to have exempted the last several words, but the intent is clear: the largest teachers union in Colorado, and the parent organization for the Woodland Park Education Association has incorporated the destruction of our capitalist system as part of their platform. This is the organization that the anti-board folks in our community wish to partner with in toppling this democratically elected board.
The most recent example of these folks turning to outside forces is the recent hit piece written by a Los Angeles based NBC reporter, who our local extremists started coordinating with over a month ago. He has made a career out of taking the most left-wing position on education, bemoaning the banning of Critical Race Theory, Conservative School Board Candidates being elected, teachers losing their jobs for pushing sexuality on children and more. The piece was a laughable, inaccurate, hit job from a “news” organization that has little credibility. A May 2022 survey by Statista found that only 25% of American voters viewed NBC as a very credible source of news and information. The backlash against NBC and their hack job of hit piece has been comical to watch online. Their twitter post of this article was quickly ratioed. The likes of Jordan Petersen, Citizen Free Press, Dan Bongino, Blaze TV, Chris Rufo, and many others, mocked the piece as being good news disguised as bad. I’ll note that the same news organization is present tonight, gearing up for another hit piece, this time on the mostly unwatched Nightly News with Lester Holt. You can be sure that they have rushed out to flyover Teller County from New York City to tell us dumb conservative hicks the way things are done in New York and LA, much to the approval of local leftists.
This local group should be ashamed of themselves. Stop appealing to the worst organizations in America to influence our local elections. The voters of the Woodland Park School District deserver the right to determine the trajectory of the district they pay for. We reject the influence of the toxic CEA and the very biased NBC.
