East High shooting: What we know about the suspect’s previous criminal charge and security plan

The Denver East shooter was a 17 year old student who was currently on probation for an Aurora criminal weapons possession charge. As a result of the charge he was required to be patted down when entering school. Due to the fact that Denver Public Schools BOE had banned police and armed guards on campuses, the safety screening was conducted by unarmed deans. Despite being on probation for a weapons charge, the student was still permitted on campus. This article explores the situation.
