I Thought I Was Saving Trans Kids. Now I’m Blowing the Whistle.

Jamie Reed is a 42-year-old queer woman who describes herself as politically left of Bernie Sanders. She spent her career providing counseling to vulnerable populations: children in foster care, sexual minorities, the poor. Her worldview has deeply shaped my career choice. I believe that counseling is an important way to help people struggling with difficult issues in their lives. She is now blowing the whistle on a practice that is doing irreversable harm to children.
